Description

The Athletic Facilities Groundskeeper will be expected to perform work that is described as and consisting of moderate to heavy physical activities. This will include tasks related to but not limited to carpentry work, mowing and weed eating district property, landscaping, trimming, pruning, painting, moving district equipment for programs and or activities, building/property security and personal safety. 

 

The Athletic Facilities Groundskeeper is a district support staff employee and will be expected to perform work duties throughout the school district as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Operations and the Activities Director.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to;

  • Mow and trim  the following fields:  Baseball Field, Softball Field, Soccer Fields, HS and JH Football Practice Fields, Tennis Court Area, Football Field 
  • Spray and trim athletic fence lines
  • Clean athletic facilities restrooms and locker room areas (daily in season); High School Game Field, Football Field House, Softball Field House
  • Water athletic facilities
  • Move wrestling mats, when needed
  • Mark (chalk or paint) field on game days
  • Mark practice fields, when needed
  • Set up game day facilities; bleacher area clean, ticket booth set up, tables set up, pressbox set up
  • Trash at all athletic facilities
  • Assist Activities director with projects (i.e., hanging banners, assisting coaches with facility needs)
  • Operates grounds equipment including mowersm sprayers, aerators, and/or small tractor
  • Perform job related duties as assigned  

Qualifications 

Education/Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years maintenance experience.

 

Skills and Abilities  

An individual who holds this position must have the ability to:

Read and interpret documents such as instructions and procedure manuals.

Establish and maintain effective, efficient working relations with co-workers and members of the public; act in a courteous and effective manner when interacting with the public, staff and students.

Reasoning 

An individual who holds this position must have the ability to:

Read, understand and apply written instructions including work procedures, product labels, material safety data sheets, and equipment instruction manuals.

Understand and follow verbal instructions.

Technology

An individual who holds this position must:

Have some knowledge of IPad, smartphones, and computers. 

Additional Skills and Abilities

An individual who holds this position must have:

Proper and safe operation of machinery, power tools and hand tools.

Follow safety procedures; identify and report safety hazards.

 

Physical Demands 

While performing the duties of this position an employee is regularly required to perform heavy manual labor, including moving furniture and equipment, lifting items weighing up to 50 lbs.  The employee is frequently required to walk and use fingers and controls.  The employee is regularly required to stand, reach and bend.  

 

Attendance

Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
