Summary
In accordance with district policies and procedures, the head athletic coach will work within the framework of the entire athletic program. He or she will provide leadership in the ongoing development and improvement of his or her coaching area through coordination, planning, evaluation, and implementation of programs.
The head coach may recommend assistant coaches to the Director of Activities.
Recommended candidates must go through the district application/hiring process.
Candidates will be considered for teaching positions in their area of certification.
The Director of Activities will make the final recommendation to the Superintendent of the best qualified candidate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
A person who holds this position must:
- Be responsible for all matters pertaining to the organization and administration of the coaching of the team under his/her direction and enforce all rules of the Missouri State High School Activities Association as they pertain to the respective sports.
- To be responsible for the information contained in the Wildcat Standards and implementation of the policies/procedures/goals therein.
- Maintain an accurate squad roster at all times, ensuring that it is up to date and on file with the High School Activities office. Also ensuring that each athlete’s paperwork is completed and turned into the office.
- Prepare detailed equipment and supply budget requests to be submitted to the High School Activities Director.
- Conduct all staff meetings and be in charge of all tryouts, practices, team meetings, and athletic contests, including off-season programs.
- Inspect all equipment, oversee the issuance and collection of equipment and uniforms and keep a detailed inventory.
- Assign duties to all assistant coaches and evaluate the performance of these coaches as they fulfill their duties and responsibilities.
- Attend all conference and district meetings as required.
- Be responsible for contacting appropriate media for information regarding their sport.
- Announce and enforce rules and regulations pertaining to conditioning of players and training rules affecting the health and safety of players.
- Report injuries of participants to the proper school officials, trainer, and High School Activities Director.
- Work with the athletic booster club organization.
- Support the entire athletic program and to be an active participant in striving to improve the activities program as well as the total educational program in the school.
- Perform other duties related to the position of head athletic coach as requested by the high school principal and/or activities director
Supervisory Duties
Supervision of student athletes at all times. This includes practices, games, and locker room supervision until all student athletes have left the building and ensuring that the facility is locked.
Qualifications
Certification – Missouri Teacher Certificate
Previous experience in coaching a must.
Must successfully pass a background check.
